Tour the Victorian Archives Centre

Find out on our free one-hour guided tours that venture beyond the Get Smart security doors, through the air locks and into the repository. Who knows what you might encounter among the 100 kilometres of records and 180 years of history in our collection, but you are guaranteed plenty of pause for thought about the links to your history as well as a look at a petition so big it was tabled in parliament on a surf reel! Please note: This tour is a walking tour. Wheelchair access is available. Bookings essential. Groups by appointment. As a potential participant, or coordinator of a PROV tour, there are a number of things you must consider before confirming participation:    Tours of the Victorian Archives Centre last one hour and a minimum level of fitness is required to walk and stand for the full hour. Please note, tours are wheelchair accessible.    There are no toilet facilities available once the tour is underway. The secure nature of our facility requires the tour to end and all participants to return to public spaces if a member is unable to continue on the tour for any reason. If you have special access requirements, please contact Leigh Kinrade This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and PROV will endeavour, where possible, to meet your needs.Note for Group bookings - On arrival please assemble your group in the foyer and sign in at security who will give options for securely stowing your bags etc, which are prohibited in PROV's reading Room and repository. Our experience with large groups is that easily 10 minutes can be lost with this process, so we appreciate your help in marshalling the group for a prompt start to the tour. Bringing along a list of the names of your group members, which you can hand to security, generally speeds things along considerably. 11 am - 12 pm
